NICK BAYES

Freelance bassist

Nick Bayes has been playing bass and performing live for forty years.  He started his professional career with Folk-Punk legends Tower Struck Down in 1991.



Nick has worked with many acts during his career and is currently the international touring bassist for Folk-Punk band Headsticks, Jazz and Boogie-Woogie pianist Tom Seals and Country/Americana artist Chloë Chadwick.

 

He has supported many name acts, including Kirsty MacColl, Spear Of Destiny, The Christians, Diana Vickers, Tom Hingley, Mark Morriss, TV Smith, Mark Radcliffe, John Bramwell, Big Country, Strawbs, Buzzcocks and New Model Army to name but a few.

 

Nick has performed all over the UK and Europe and as far afield as Hong Kong and was due to play in New York in Spring 2020 (cancelled due to COVID19).  He has played at many UK festivals, including Glastonbury, Rebellion, Beautiful Days, Bearded Theory, Cheltenham Jazz, Brighton and Edinburgh Fringe amongst others.  He also has experience of performing on cruise ships.

 

He has depped with many acts, and is happy to be engaged for single shows, tours or studio work.
Nick is comfortable across most genres of contemporary music.  His preferred instrument is electric bass and he uses both 4 and 5 string models.  He does occasionally play acoustic and upright basses.
